VERY RARE VIEW — A pack of coyotes, several groups of bucks, a white deer, and an opossum all in the same field at once! These coyotes looked huge and very large coyotes have been found here. The pack was looking and headed toward the white deer when they disappeared over a ridge. At the Edge of Night – the woods and fields are full of life when no human eye sees. In one field on one night, I photographed a pack of at least 3 huge wolf-like coyotes, several big buck deer, one white deer, and one opossum. There was still a little daylight when I began taping the deer. Two or three big bucks were initially there. One had a broken antler. Several other groups of large bucks appeared when it was darker. At least one buck appeared to have 10-point antlers. After I taped the first set of deer, I noticed the coyotes. They were hunting for voles, mice, and other rodents. They were nervous about my presence, but they know humans can’t see at night and continued hunting while watching me. I was using infrared and night vision. These coyotes appeared to be quite large compared to the height of the remnant hay in the field. The only adult coyote killed on our farm weighed 50 pounds and some look larger. When the coyotes disappeared, they were looking in the direction of and heading toward the white deer (there may have been others with it but darker deer didn’t show up that far away). When I swung the camera in the direction the coyotes had gone, it caught a glimpse of a white …

Cool footage. But you can’t tell the true size and weight of a coyote remotely, so please don’t state they are “WOLF SIZED”. They look like regular Eastern yotes- big, but still coyotes.
R. Doe’s statement sounds impossible. No genuine coyote weighs 115 lb. Was the DNA tested? A large western wolf weighs 115. An Eastern Timber Wolf isn’t nearly that heavy. A huge Eastern Coyote weighs half that.
I’ll write to that site & ask them to double check the quote from Mr. Doe. I hate exaggeration.

Coyotes rarely take down healthy deer. Only thing they do to deer are kill the fawns they catch.

If you can get them on video, you can get them in a rifle scope. Shoot em if you want to keep filming the deer.

The coyotes here in the Northeast (I live in CT) are definitely a lot bigger than the Western ones (I lived in AZ & CA). The DEP here even states that they did interbreed w/ the wolf before they went extinct however long ago. Coyotes here also hunt in the same style & large packs as wolves(know 1st hand as almost being on the menu myself) & they are almost as big as my lg Standard Poodle whom is approx 30″ @ the shoulder & weighs in at 70+ lbs. They also do look bigger/ bushy w/ a winter coat

How could wolves mate coyotes? They kill coyotes anywhere they see them, no mercy. I can’t imagine that could ever happen

What amazing wild animals! I still hate coyotes because they killed 4 of our baby goats. But deers rock! possum are pretty annoying though.

I remember reading an article about larger coyotes in the eastern united states due to interbreeding with the red wolf
