SCOPE CAM: 400 Yard AR15 Target Shooting

Posted on 28 March 2010 by trickac

Shooting an AR15 using the scope cam; targets setup at approximately 410 yards. The camcorder is securely mounted to the stock of the rifle, just behind the charging handle. Shooting with this setup is quite a challenge, as I have to use the camcorder viewfinder for aiming. The viewfinder screen is roughly the size of 4 small postage stamps, and provides nowhere near the quality resolution that you experience with a decent scope. I’m so close to the viewfinder, I’m not even wearing my glasses. Rifle for the session is a Bushmaster Varminter in .223, topped off with a Leupold Mark III scope. The Remington 55 grain accutip is the load of choice.

The Call Of The Wild – Coyote Chronicles – Take a 500+ yard shot!

Posted on 18 March 2010 by trickac

What do you do when they hang up? Take a 500+ yard shot! I filmed this one not quite 3 years ago. I believe it was my 3rd set ever to see a coyote. My calling was not that great which is probably why this one hangs up at over 500 yards. I take the shot but come up just a little short. Never the less I learned a lo…t from this one. I think there is something to be learned any time you can observe a coyote’s reaction to a call. Enjoy!

350 Yard Coyote Kill!!

Posted on 15 March 2010 by trickac

I shot this coyote at about 350 yards away. Pretty good shot considering he was running and I was shooting free hand. The shot dropped him in his tracks!

The Call Of The Wild – Coyote Chronicles – Busted and Disgusted – 20 Yard Miss!

Posted on 12 March 2010 by trickac

I got busted by the first coyote when I walked in to my set. He’s too far out for the audio to pick it up however you’ll see him bark at me each time I call. While I am focused on the first one, a second one appears at about 100 yards. I bring it in to about 20 yards and miss. I made some rookie mistakes on this se…t as you will see. I filmed this one about 2 years ago. Enjoy!
