Brand new rifle I own and finally got money to pay for. Always wanted to own a Remington since I’m a Remington “fanboy”. The Remington 700VTR is one heck of a beauty right out of the box. Took her to the range on November 21st, 2009 to the Regina Wildlife Federation shooting range to test out the various ammunition and decide on which brand I would use for the hunting season. It was unfortunate that I ran out of time before I could get out to hunt any deer as there was one specific buck I was going to hunt. There’s always next year after all. Anyways, this rifle is chambered for .308 caliber, has an integrated muzzle-brake, has Remington’s Recoil Reduction Pad built right into the stock, and is hinged plated magazine system. I was able to score a Harris Bipod made by Rocky Arms and still had my A1Optics 8-32x50mm rangefinding illuminated reticule scope. Added a Remington real tree camo sling for the heck of it as we are wide open prairies after all. Those long walks can be disastrous for rifles if they are not cared for. I am quite impressed with how the rifle shot. If you notice during the video that the rifle barrel never once lifted when fired. I had this very problem with the Savage Arms FC111XP that I used to own and accuracy was hard to control. That wasn’t the case with the 700VTR. Shot nice and steady keeping the barrel level at all times allowing me to keep focus through the scope without losing sight of the target and the recoil pad took most of the recoil. This video is a demonstration of the Gamo CFX Pellet rifle. This rifle is capable of firing pellets at over 1000 fps. It is an excellent varmint hunter for keeping your grounds free of those pests, or, if you prefer, for squirrel and bird hunting. Equipped with a scope, a light and a laser, you can hunt into the dark hours when many pests are active. Excuse my shirt sleeve, which obscures the most important part of the video, but I still think you will get the point of the rifle. Soon, I hope to have a video showing the rifle’s capabilities in the dusk till dark hours. Video Rating: 4 / 5

NASA MAY 2K9 50/25 RIFLE MATCH It was pouring down rain at 5:30 this morning with lightning and thunder. Tony wrote and asked if I was going to call the match. I wrote him back and told him that I would be at the range at 7:30 and see who shows up and what they want to do. Got there at 7:33 and Tony and Anedra had already opened the gate and gone in (as usual). No thunder by then – just rain. We talked for about 15 minutes and nobody else showed. So, we pulled out the sporters and started plinking at a spinner that I stuck out in the muddy berm. David King sloshed in and started shooting his CZ FS from a bench and then Randy King and the Butler family showed up. By then, the rain had let up and I new we just had to shoot a match. Not sure about the time length of the gap in the rain, I decided to cut the round count for the match in half. Each shooter would only engage one rack of twenty-five silhouettes instead of the usual two. It went well and a few even shot both classes. Here are the scores: Place, score, shooter, rifle, scope, ammo Telescopic sight class 1st, 4, Randy King, Savage Mk II, Tasco WC, Wolf MT 2nd, 6, Reece Stewart, CZ 452 Varmint, Bushnell Fed 510 2nd, 6, Danny Creasy, Kimber Hunter, Weaver V-16, SK rifle Match 3rd, 10LC, Tony Gilmore, CZ American, Weaver R4, CCI Blazer 4th, 11LC, Peary Willard, Remington 581L, Barska 3-12X40, Fed 510 5th, 12, David King, CZ 452 FS, Burris 6, Wolf MT 6th, 13LC, John Butler, Browning A Bolt, Weaver K-4, CCI Blazer 7th …
