This was a multi-day trip specifically set aside for some long range shooting. The first day we set up at a location around 6000ft elevation and could shoot to 1000 yards. This was nice but the hotter than normal weather and dried out “moon dust” got into all of the equipment. The next day we went to an old familiar secret location in the pines at 7300ft elevation and it turned out to be a perfect day of shooting. The temperature only got up to 80F and most of our shooting took place at 614 yards according to the Leica LRF laser range finder. The firearms seen in the video were an M1 Garand cal. .308, a Winchester Heavy Varmint cal. .308 and a short glimpse of a Springfield M1A. There were many more rifles shot this day but taking video is difficult since I’m the only youtuber and the rest are family. One of the most challenging portions was doing the actual shooting and video. There are many things to think about when you’re behind the rifle and dealing with strong winds and altitude so running the camera had to take 2nd place. Otherwise I would have taken more video of me shooting various weapons. In any case, I basically wanted to share some pieces of the pie with you guys and to show what it feels like both up range and downrange. We’ll also take a little side trip and a break from the shooting in part 3 of this 3 part series.

Brand new rifle I own and finally got money to pay for. Always wanted to own a Remington since I’m a Remington “fanboy”. The Remington 700VTR is one heck of a beauty right out of the box. Took her to the range on November 21st, 2009 to the Regina Wildlife Federation shooting range to test out the various ammunition and decide on which brand I would use for the hunting season. It was unfortunate that I ran out of time before I could get out to hunt any deer as there was one specific buck I was going to hunt. There’s always next year after all. Anyways, this rifle is chambered for .308 caliber, has an integrated muzzle-brake, has Remington’s Recoil Reduction Pad built right into the stock, and is hinged plated magazine system. I was able to score a Harris Bipod made by Rocky Arms and still had my A1Optics 8-32x50mm rangefinding illuminated reticule scope. Added a Remington real tree camo sling for the heck of it as we are wide open prairies after all. Those long walks can be disastrous for rifles if they are not cared for. I am quite impressed with how the rifle shot. If you notice during the video that the rifle barrel never once lifted when fired. I had this very problem with the Savage Arms FC111XP that I used to own and accuracy was hard to control. That wasn’t the case with the 700VTR. Shot nice and steady keeping the barrel level at all times allowing me to keep focus through the scope without losing sight of the target and the recoil pad took most of the recoil. Felt …

The Lumenok Range of Lighted Nocks From Burt Coyote Company
It comes as no surprise that when it comes to the lighted nocks segment, Burt Coyote company is the leading provider. Most professional bowhunters as well as archers prefer using only Burt Coyote manufactured lighted nocks.
Why are Burt Coyote company nocks so famous?
There is a reason why Burt Coyote manufactured lighted nocks are so much in demand. The design of these nocks is very simplistic and yet does not compromise on the functionality aspect in any way. The lightweight lighted nocks from this company just add a couple of grains in terms of weightage to arrows. You also do not need to use magnets while using these nocks. In order to ensure effective functionality, it is only essential to have minimal shaft of the arrow and fitting. The versatility of these lighted nocks lies in the fact that they can be used with both carbon and aluminum arrows easily. However, these arrows need to have standardized ICS components like Carbon Tech, Gold Tip, Carbon Impact, PSE Radial X Weave, Victory, Easton, Carbon Express, Beman etc. You can also get lighted nocks from Burt Coyote which are compatible with the smaller radius carbons manufactured by Trophy Ridge.
How does it work?
The Lumenok collection of lighted nocks from Burt Coyote all function in the same manner. The nock gets lit up through shot inertia as soon as the arrow is shot from the bow and will continue to remain lit until manually switched off. The nocks come with a 5 year battery life and the batteries themselves are made of lithium of capacity 3 volts. These collections of lighted nocks are best suited for target shooting sessions and hunting expeditions. You can assess the bow’s tuning easily with such nocks. Hunters who practice at large distances can see the performance of their shot with visibility because of the light. Right from the arrow’s release till its very impact on the surface, the entire flight of the arrow can be seen because of these lighted nocks. Most professional hunters use the Lumenok collection simple because of its ease of use and precision in gauging form.
The various types of nocks
Even within the Lumenok collection of lighted nocks there are several sub-categories. Most of these stay on for at least 40 hours after the arrow being shot. The best thing is that these lighted nocks continue to remain lit until you switch them off. Thus, you can focus on the tuning of your bow for target shooting or locate your game and arrows in the case of hunting. There are primarily three types of lighted nocks within the Lumenok collection namely the Gold Tip Lighted Arrow Nocks, X Lighted Arrow Nocks and the S Lighted Arrow Nocks. The Gold Tip lighted nocks can be used with Gold Tip arrows and come in bright colors like fluorescent green and orange. These come in single packs as well as packs of three nocks in them. The second variant called X Lighted Arrow Nocks can be used to replace Black Max MFX, ST Axis Obsession, ST Axis, MAX-4 MFX etc. These lighted nocks too come in single and three packs and are available in fluorescent orange colors. The S Lighted Arrow Nocks can replace the carbon arrows and even aluminum arrows that come with super Uni Bushing mechanisms. These lighted nocks come in bright colors like fluorescent green and orange. These come in single packs as well as packs of three nocks in them.
Eagle Archery offers a great selection of lighted nocks. Visit us on the web for our full collection of Lighted Nocks and Archery Equipment.
