Ground Squirrel Shoot Bryson Hesperia Resort Feb 2008. Rifle is a Marlin 25MN .22 mag with Leupold 1×4 scope. I was shooting the TNT Green ammo as this area is in what we call the “Condor Zone” in CA where you have to shoot non lead ammo. At 100 yards the .22WMR just doesn’t splatter them like a .17. Some of the hits look like misses since you don’t see the instant flop or parts go flying. Homemade shooting sticks. Camcorder is a Canon GL-2 with Century Optics 2x tele lens. Some of the shots are offhand, some from shooting sticks and some off fence posts. I try and use squeak shooting to simulate all types of shots I may take while coyote or deer hunting, I just don’t sit behind a shooting bench with bags for perfect shots every time. I find it fun to just walk down a cow trail and plink, just like when I was a kid. It’s a little tougher dragging a camcorder on a tripod also with you but that’s what I was doing. It’s a lot easier to have someone else do the video so you can concentrate on the shooting. Shooting range was 30 yards to 125 yards. Cool video. I’m in Oklahoma and going hog & yote hunting next weekend with a Lee enfield .303 and a Romanian AK-47. This will be my first time, and I can’t wait.

@Spartan536 No worries, I shoot for fun and at this range I was pushing the accuracy of that rifle. Looking for a .17 HMR right now to be able to shoot out past 100 yards. Thanks.

I was not trying to insult you i was just doing some observation, I shoot with a Savage 93FV, I understand The Marlin you use is like an Older Savage 93, wind especially on the lights 30-34 grain bullets wreaks havok on trajectory. I am a US Army Expert Marksman (given by small bore during ROTC) and was part of a precision rifle team for 2 years. Most people here are used to shooting in ideal conditions or at the range where shots can be easily adjusted, again I meant no offense

@JessesHunting that sucks how old are you

  12. JessesHunting Says:

@nicktimseamus Don’t be a hater, I’m blind in one eye and have a spastic colon. It’s tough for me most days to even load the gun.

  13. nicktimseamus Says:

@JessesHunting you shooting squirrels with a tournament rifle, and you can only get a decent shot on one of them

  14. JessesHunting Says:

@nicktimseamus Hey, Helen Keller’s brother, try watching the one peeking.

  15. JessesHunting Says:

@Spartan536 The Marlin 25MN is not an Anshutz, so shots out past 100 yards are not going to group that tight. Add in some gusting wind and you get some misses. Also many of the goofs commenting here claim misses but when you really watch the video you see red mist on some.

  16. nicktimseamus Says:

out of them 10+ squirrels not one of them was an instant kill shot. hahahaha

  17. Spartan536 Says:

I shoot squirrels all the time that get into our Pecan Trees on my families property in GA, if they squirm I shoot them again, im all for quick clean kills, I can understand that carrying a camcorder and tripod yourself and filming makes it much harder to shoot correctly, however if you want less negative feedback on youtube videos you can either edit more of your shots to good ones or have a spotter go with you to film so that your shots are better, good luck, HOOAH

  19. JessesHunting Says:

@mrpoon Okay, can I make you suffer with my jokes then? Are you Super Sniper’s brother?

  21. Dictators4GunControl Says:

@JessesHunting Yep, bummer you couldn’t use Maxi-Mags – good splatter factor, well past 100 yards!

  22. Dictators4GunControl Says:

No one hits 100% of the time, and many of these shots are great! That said, there were a few that weren’t entirely “clean”. Particularly the one that was apparently hit, but able to make it’s way back to it’s den – were you able to recover it? I see a great many body shots as well. Completely your choice, but IMHO head shots are generally more effective (even if a bit harder), and as I own a Marlin 25MN, I know that it is perfectly capable of them. Enough of my complaining – still a good video!

nice video im surprised they ran as far as they did on some shots my .22lr stopes them dead in their tracks maby you just touched them on the shots they ran away but then again somtimes they manage to get back in there holes even with no head but im forsure picking up a .22 wmr next month by the way what ammo are you useing because don’t the cci maxi mag or the tnt explosive tips do way more damage?

    That Peeking shot is amazing….
