Fågeljakt i Sverige – Varminthunting in Sweden.
Video Rating: 4 / 5
400 yards target shooting with the AR15 Bushmaster Varminter, .223. In spite of breezy conditions and a slight elevation change, some success in making hits on an 8″ x 16″ steel target. During the video, you can actually see the bullet flight to the target. In retrospect, I would probably adjust my scope 1 click up and to the right for this setup and weather conditions. That adjustment should bring the majority of the group into where my crosshairs were aligned, as my misses went low and left. Nonetheless, the 75 grain Privi Partizan .223 cartridge is definitely worthy for long-range target shooting, and possibly varmint hunting due to it’s open-tip design. nice . kommunjägare det vore nått men jag vet inte hur man blir det . sköt ni fasanen?
December 10th, 2010 at 1:48 pm
Definitivt subsonic!
December 10th, 2010 at 2:25 pm
Trevliga klipp. Har själv ingen dämpare på 22an, men sub sonic är ändå att föredra då lagen tillåter det, så har du ngr visdomsord som kommunjägare vilken ammunition du finner mest effektiv(vad använder du?).
December 10th, 2010 at 3:21 pm
do you eat those birds
December 10th, 2010 at 3:28 pm
Nej bara på klass 1&2, dock är jag kommunjägare med licens för ljuddämpare till klass 4! Det är också vad jag vet det enda sättet att få licens på..
December 10th, 2010 at 4:05 pm

@tnoutdoors9 I have a Bushmaster 223 cal and was wondering if someone can help me with desiding what bullet weight to shoot with a 1-9 twist barrel. I don’t want to waste ammo on something that won’t shoot well because of the twist. I think you need a faster twist (ie 1-12 for a bullet over 55 or 62 grain. Appreciate any help! 19 inch berrel.

Nice shooting and grouping! I buy these bullets for my m4 at my range here in canada not hollow tip though $14 for 20 shots I am going to start to reload my own rounds from now on.
December 11th, 2010 at 3:11 am
@ibanezkid07
It’s not all that necessary, as the .223 does well with 45 and 55 gr bullets at 400 yards, etc., especially on prairie dogs. When I posted the video, it was the first 400 yard shooting I had attempted.
December 11th, 2010 at 3:12 am
why do you need heavier rounds for longer shooting?
December 11th, 2010 at 3:18 am
Go as heavy as you can for the best b.c.e. Prvi partizan makes great ammo!
December 11th, 2010 at 4:07 am
nice, u can see the trace.
December 11th, 2010 at 4:11 am
Thats a tough shot at that distance.. with my buddies 1:9 twist 20in I can get a three shot burst 11 inches at 700 yards… That was on a real calm day. I used my 1:8 in 16in barrel and get good groups at 500 yards. Thats with 62 grain remingtons i belive been a while… But I would like to see that vid if u make it that would be impressive, I know threre is somebody out there doing it though

Shooting a grand is my next goal with this rifle. From what I’ve heard, I’ve been fortunate to stabilize 75 grs in this 1:9 twist. I’m not up for a barrel change. For my 1000 yd attempt, I’m thinking about the Federal Gold Medal Match in 69 gr. Of course, I’ll also try it with the best 55 gr ballistic tip I can find, just for the heck of it….and hope to keep it in the same zip code.
BTW, I do not reload.

Im using the Lapua 77 grain scenars the BC of this head is 0.402. Im using 24 grains of varget powder the secret is to tune your ammunition to your barrele getting the OAL correct & so on but im sure you all ready know that. great vids keep it up.
December 11th, 2010 at 5:32 am
Whats the BC on the 77gr scenar? My 77gr smks go subsonic at around 750-800yds and fall out of the sky.
December 11th, 2010 at 6:19 am
Good shooting & setup, I shoot a AR15 in the UK & I have stretched mine out to 1000 yds using 77 grain Lapua heads, 1/8 twist barrel 20 inchs. It can be done.
December 11th, 2010 at 6:28 am
very nice rig. sniper set-up. i like it.
December 11th, 2010 at 6:45 am
What’s funny is just 1 week ago I shot an 8 point right in the neck with my new R-15 from Remington. Dropped him on the spot with a 55gr. Softpoint. I hit him about 8 in. down from the back of his head, at about 30 yards. The bullet passed through cleanly.
December 11th, 2010 at 7:39 am
Not that I recommend it but there’s a lot of people that shoot whitetail with .223. One of my good friends has shot a ton of bucks with a good 62gr bonded soft point. You have to plan you shot double lung broadside. They will perform fantastic in that situation but I wouldn’t try a shoulder shot, your likely to get an entrance only with little or no blood trail. This is a great vid by the way!
December 11th, 2010 at 8:26 am
NO KIDDING, dang. Thanks a lot, happy Thanksgiving.
December 11th, 2010 at 8:49 am
That would be pushing it. Although this rifle is accurate, I would probably need a custom barrel at that distance, and some heavy bullets. I have access to a spot that I’ve lasered at 900 yards, but I need perfect conditions (and time) for that setup.
I noticed that you had commented on the 860 yd AR video posted by scottys1, which is probably the best I’ve seen. For everyone else, it’s posted in my “Favorites” list.
December 11th, 2010 at 9:07 am
with your set up, could you get a good group at 1000 yards or is that pushing it with a .223 I was hoping to get a 1:8 twist stainless 26 inch I think or is a 24 lol. with 80 grain bullets, Do you think its possible? great shooting by the way!!!
December 11th, 2010 at 9:38 am
Good video you did the whole drill shooting, and showing the target while shooting ,Then a close up of the target. Well done, and you did good on the kentucky windage like many do while engaged.
December 11th, 2010 at 10:20 am
If you do use this for deer make sure it’s a head or neck shot. The bullet isn’t big enough or heavy enough for a body shot.
December 11th, 2010 at 10:30 am
In Tennessee, this caliber is now legal for deer. This would not be my first choice unless a SHTF situation, but I would probably go for a head shot to conserve meat. For turkey, not a good choice at all. You need a shotgun to blow the head off.
December 11th, 2010 at 10:39 am
can u use this for deer and turkey.
December 11th, 2010 at 10:50 am
