GunsAmerica TV SHOTSHOW 2010 Kel-Tec PMR 30 .22mag

Posted on 14 December 2010 by trickac

GunsAmerica TV SHOT SHOW 2010. With 30 rounds, the PMR 30 .22 is a great home defense option for those who are sensitive to recoil. The new PMR 30 is an extremely light weight .22mag. Don’t let it’s small caliber fool you – with a 30-round standard magazine, you’ll have more than enough stopping power. Use it for both home defense and varmint hunting.

@arthur84 i disagree i have glock 23 40 s&w and i am thinking to buy this gun for my fiancee for traning so she can get 38 spc later !! if you have 22 mag is better then nothing and if you shot the criminal in the head you will stop him even with 22 mag !! now is it the best HD ?? No but some ppl will do some thing like my friend who had 410 shotgun !!

  7. arthur84 Says:

Only a complete idiot would use this for personal defense. 30 rounds is plenty to drop a man, but it won’t happen instantly. If you can’t even handle the recoil of a compensated 9mm, you have no business handling a gun.

@sniper034 They’ve said before that they’re looking into making a .22LR version or conversion kit. Like you, I’m much more interested at plinking for 4 cents per shot than 20 cents per shot.

But it may turn out that this gun will make a large demand for cheap, pistol-optimized .22 mag, and an ammo manufacturer will fill the need.

    i think i just ejaculated a bit

This thing is going to make a huge splash in Canada. All rimfires are excluded from the 10 round mag capacity limit, and handguns with a 105mm+ barrel are allowed (this one has a 109mm barrel). So I guess it’s this or 10 rounds of 45 in your full sized Glock… which is also cool, but for those of us into high capacity with added power over .22lr, this is great.

  18. sniper034 Says:

@Nunnyabizz101 I’d like to see what other calibers they would chamber this piece in, though. The price difference between .22 LR and .22 Magnum is a minus for me.

  19. sniper034 Says:

@Nunnyabizz101 Yeah, I messed up. Sorry. I was confusing efficiency and effectiveness. >:(
    Sorry again.

  20. Nunnyabizz101 Says:

@sniper034 and extra 2″ in barrel length would make a BIG difference in how it makes use of the 22 mag, but even in the short 4.3″ barrel length it is still a better round than any of the 22lr in the same length barrel.

  21. Nunnyabizz101 Says:

@sniper034 the old Grendel P30 which this gun was modeled after and is an improved version of (except barrel length) had 2 barrel choices and 5″ was the shortest then they had an 8″ version.
I wish they manufactured 22mag rounds for pistols with faster burning powder then this gun would be pumping out at 2200fps and would be insane.

  22. Nunnyabizz101 Says:

@sniper034 even out of really short barrels like those 1 1/2 to 2″ derringers there is a very slight advantage with 22 Mag, but VERY slight, like less than 100fps.
but at any barrel length over 5″ the 22mag is clearly superior and every inch over that gets much better. a 6.5″ inch barrel for this gun would be perfect, would get about 1700+ fps and still be small enough to carry and handle well.

  23. Nunnyabizz101 Says:

@sniper034 and I wasn’t talking “this barrel length” I stated 6″ which is what mine is and what I will wait for. They supposedly have a 5″ threaded barrel for it already. I will wait for the 6″. The 6″ barrel on my AMT get 1650+FPS which out does any LR.
I have no idea why they would make the barrel so short for 22 Mag, makes no sense. 6″ should be minimum.

  24. TomZentra Says:

@Nunnyabizz101 Are you serious? That’s disappointing news. Shooting the varmints is good enough. I don’t need to blow out their eardrums too.

  25. Nunnyabizz101 Says:

@TomZentra about 4X louder, its loud as hell with huge muzzle flash
