Unique Varmint Rifle. Easy to find, but those fucking rats in the cave can be a real challenge for lower level character. Do not enter the cave before level 10-12. — – repairable with common Varmint rifles, with Jury Rigging all two-handed Guns The Ratslayer has a black synthetic stock instead of wood, what seem to be stainless steel metal parts, and appears to have marks on the stock showing that the previous user killed 69 rats with it. Compared to the Varmint Rifle, the Ratslayer boasts a higher DPS, a much higher critical multiplier, and lighter weight, as well as coming with all possible Varmint Rifle mods already built in: Varmint Rifle Extended Mags, Varmint Rifle Night Scope, and Varmint Rifle Silencer. Because of these factors, and a modest strength requirement, this weapon can be a good start for lower level characters who lack the funds to buy all of the Varmint Rifle’s attachments outright. Even after mid-level, the Ratslayer remains useful for taking out lightly-armored targets due to its light weight, night-vision scope, silencer, ease of maintenance, and common ammo availability. Is there a way to get a 12.7mm pistol without either gaining infamy from some faction or bad karma or whatever? I’ve been able to get the 12.7mm SMG from vendors (or killing Caesar’s legion) but not this gun, nor have I been able to find it tucked away somewhere. I’m well into my second playthrough and no luck yet.

I don’t know if anyone gets the joke, but if you have the Wild Wasteland perk, the rats are called “Rodent of Unusual Size” lol…
December 29th, 2010 at 1:02 am
@haxxoromg Pretty much anything that walks on two feet excluding the deathclaw, considering its a sneak crit + headshot, and a bonus with the right ammo type depending on the target. It is a good substitute over possibly wasting .308 rounds. There are times you just rather conserve that caliber for more promising targets.
