@DownWindOutdoors Thanks a lot. I am just getting into coyote hunting and I also live in upstate New York, Corning actually, so I was looking for some winter camo that would work well, so I asked you since we hunt in virtually the same environment.

@m1sham0ney No problem at all…It is Wildfowler Outfitters parka and pant coverups sold at Cabelas.

Pure Predator Calls

Pay attention to that wind and devise a setup that prevents a downwind circler from busting you. Use it to your advantage or be looking for it. Quiet walking in, crunchy snow sucks. Good luck!

well like most, i’d hope, we always call them when we see them and that’s always going to yield the best results. Only a couple times have we seen coyotes actually run away from the call, but it does happen. We do a ton of stands too. Weekend warriors mostly, 2-4 stands, or so, nothing crazy. Cottontail distress, jackrabbit, something with some rasp. Good luck

I’d say it really depends more on the weather conditions. One day we were 5 for 3 calling in dogs. 3,1,1 on the three setups. it was subzero temperatures and calm after a really windy week. Our best day, but then if it’s windy or just not having good luck we might go 10 stands without any action at all. Notice we haven’t uploaded any video recently
maybe next weekend

Good advice these guys do a good job. I just wonder how many hunts they go without getting any, or how many stops it usually takes before they get one.

I’ve only been chasing coyotes & fox for about 4 years, I’m big into waterfowl & whitetail deer hunting. But after I started predator hunting & doing a bit of snaring I was hooked! Great shot by the way! I don’t hit the field hard for these animals like I do waterfowl, but right now have 5 coyotes, 5 red fox, 4 grey fox, and a few raccoons hanging in the house. Have a FoxPro & all the gear I need, typically I’m hunting countryside with scattered woodlots- ANY ADVICE for better sucess hunting?

December 1st, 2010 at 5:21 pm
you can mount it……. sell or make somethen with the pelt. or bleach the skull…….. and yea keep the numbers down…… and its a great hunt…..
December 1st, 2010 at 5:59 pm
I understand why coyotes are hunted (because we need to keep their #’s down) but what do you do with it afterward? I see you hauling it away on your shoulder. Sell the pelt?
