Crow Hunt Bryson Hesperia Resort Feb 18 2008. I got some slack time from pig hunting so I drug out the crow caller. As I drove into the area there were about 100 crows feeding in the middle of the field. Started off with “Crow Riot” and not even a look. Changed to “Baby Crow getting the crap strangled out of him” and here come the calvary. I couldn’t load fast enough. Feathers are still fluttering down. Shot them at about 30 to 50 yards by tucking up under a manzanita tree among the coastal oaks. Shotgun – Remington 870 Ammo – Hevi-13 #5 Call – Loudmouth Camcorder – Canon GL-2 with Century 2x tele lens. thedarkocean: Not when man alters nature. A recent TED talk by Joshua Klein reported that the populations of crows and other corvids are growing almost exponentially thanks to urban development.
Given the diets of crows, that doesn’t bode well for other species as well as farmers.
We as humans can’t expect nature to fix the problems we cause. We have to fix it ourselves; if we cause an imbalance somewhere, we have to correct for that imbalance.

IronMikeNJ: Ah, the usual YouTube greeting, calling people “asshole” for no reason other than to admit their own lack of intelligence.
Too bad “studies have shown” that crows clearly cause as much damage as you claim they prevent. In Canada during the 1940s, a study was done examining the effects of crows on native waterfowl.
It was shown that crows in close proximity to duck nesting areas took an average of 110 to 120 eggs or fledglings per crow per year, approximately 20,000,000 ducks.

asshole, studies have shown that crows may actually do more help to farmers’ crops then the amount of destruction they do, by eatting pests that destroy crops… Its just another reason red necks use to kill animals, the old: they do damage routine…

I don’t see the point in varmint hunting. Nature does a better job at keeping the balance than man could ever do.

buffedbob: If crows have a “right to exist,” then so do the animals that crows murder, which are also living creatures.
Humans have every right to protect biodiversity and other animals from the depredations of crows. Please do everyone a favor and educate yourself before you continue harassing people who are willing to protect the environment by managing the crow population.

buffedbob: I do not like and I do not support your harassing of crow hunters on videos, calling them “cruel and intolerant people” when you are extremely, willfully ignorant about the widespread damage that crows cause to farms, gardens, and wildlife.
Crows maim and kill farm animals, pets, and decimate songbird nests as well as kill nestlings. Farmers lose millions of dollars in crops as well as farm animals each year to crows of all species.

There is a “new’ call out that nobody has recorded and can be imitated on a good crow call like the Haydells’ ( my favorite and I own about 2 dozen).it is a plastic tunable mouth blown crow call. With this one call it brings them in if you are set up correctly.

Ducks Unlimited estimated that one crow kills 100 ducks a year. I have watched one crow alternately attack a Red-wing black birds’ nest, robins and a blue jays all in a half hour. i couldn’t believe it…

shut your freakin mouth “buffedbob” what an idiot
December 6th, 2010 at 5:30 am
No, were we just helping a farmer out this day who was having problems with the crows eating their crops. Crows also attack duck and turkey nests. Maybe you should talk to the crows and pay to send them to charm school.

You can eat crows. One recipe is to soak them in Worcestershire sauce and BBQ or pan fry them.
December 6th, 2010 at 6:14 am
I do not like and do not approve of what you are doing killing birds. The person posting this and the individuals posting comments supporting this are cruel and intolerant people. They are living creatures and have a right to exist.
December 6th, 2010 at 6:37 am
Is it just for sport, or do you eat them? If you eat them, what’s it like?
December 6th, 2010 at 6:39 am
There were crows all over the fields in this area. I used a Loudmouth electronic caller to bring the crows to within shotgun range. A crow in distress was the sound used.
December 6th, 2010 at 6:39 am
how do u get them to come in? or do they just come to ur feild
December 6th, 2010 at 7:36 am
It was 8 shots for 5 birds. 2 crows hung up in the oak tree canopy and I couldn’t get them down.
December 6th, 2010 at 8:09 am
I didn’t have any dekes out this day. Just a e-caller.
