Posted on 03 January 2011 by trickac

My second coyote caught in a snare only 2 days apart from the first one. This was a male that weighed approx. 35-40 pounds.

@restless1999 They grow to be the size of a german sheperd maybe smaller with like a max weight of like 50 pounds.

@restless1999 Coyotes all have a mind of their own in my opinion, some are calm while others can be aggressive. If they are in a pack and they are hungry they will attack and I doubt you can fight them off. A single coyote usually doesn’t attack anything they cant kill by itself but if they are in a pack they will take down a person or deer if they want food.

Hi, I’m not a hunter, but I just south of Columbus and here the coyotes at night. I’ve only seen 2 in my life accept at the zoo of course. Are they aggressive? How big do they really get? As a mom of 3 young ones, could I fight them off if I’m in the woods?

It was dead after I shot it 2 times in the head with a .22 pistol.

Yeah but that was a pure breed coyote. It was more blonde colored but a nice looking coyote at that. That was my 2nd coyote I caught within 2 days apart and my whole thing with trapping coyotes is that I wanna save some deer and turkeys this year due to a low population in my woods. Once I get some fur stretchers and fleshing knives I will be turning the pelts in for money but for now I’m using the carcasses as bait for other coyotes.

That one looks like it has some domesticated dog DNA in there somewhere…snare all the fawn eaters you can…we trap them with led holds around here….
