@ArmagonAuthor Hey there I have had my deer rifle for about a year now. And I don’t know how to properly clean it. Okay I am a girl and lean one day at a time.
That is a bore guide. You can get one from just about anywhere, but I recommend either Dewey or Lucas.
what is that tool that you put in place of the bolt and where would i get one for my remington .300 win mag
Thank you ! For your insight in this.
This knowledge is realy needed !
This is a very educational video. Spot-on tips, nothing missed that I knew of. But just for the record, I sure hope that you guys out there who own guns already know how to properly clean and maintain them.
Same here I have used paper towls, wrap them around a jag, properly adusted as to making them not too stiff in bore.
They work very well.
Yes you are so right. The brushes last longer.
Thank you.
Yes this is a custom made rifle cal. 6 mm PPC, by me at BRS Custom Rifles. The Action is BRS Custom Made (very special) Stainless Steel. Hart Rifle Barrel plus an extra barrel new, ready to screw on. McMillan Fiberglass stock. Jevel 2 oz. SS trigger. Leupold 36x Scope. This rifle is shooting in the 1/8 ” minute acuracy categorie. One of the most accurate rifles I have made so far.
Custom made hand reloding tools, made with the same reamers, as chamber of barrel.
Whats the name of the gun or is it custom cause it is beautiful
Love this VDO, just bought my first WWII rifle and needed to learn the proper way to clean it…thanks!
Here’s a tip I just learned about: After cleaning, spray your bore brushes with brake parts cleaner (or dip them in alcohol) to neutralize the solvents. It makes the brushes last much longer as the solvents errode the brush material as effectively as they do copper and lead fouling.
nice gun, but im trying to find air rifle cleaning videos. i cant find any lol
I was short of patches, so I tried using torn paper towels for the bulk of the cleaning… and they worked just fine! I guess that while water really makes them soft, solvent and oil didn’t seem to. Naturally, I finished up with a couple of commercial patches.
You are welcome !
Thanks, well put together…..
nice and quiet so you can concentrate 5/5 id give it 10 but unfortunately i cant thanks! =D
There are as many ways to clean as there are to shoot. Many tactical shooters don’t clean until we see a drop in accuracy. I am at over 300 rounds since my last cleaning.
The key is to make sure you use a bore guide, quality cleaning rod FOR YOUR CALIBER, a good jag and patches. If you brush make sure you are not reversing the direction of the brush IN the bore.
.22′s will actually shoot better if you don’t clean them at all.
You should wipe out the action after every shooting session.
how come in this vid you out in your oil then add more solvents with the oil?
Yes for a centerfire rifle.
You can use softer method for a 22 Long Rifle, since you will not get copper fouling, but you get powder and lead fouling, and it is important to clean well if you want to preserve the barrel and get top accuracy.
srry for being a pest but also dosnt the wired brush scratch the barrel or no and how much is that fiber brush and do u need 1 or can u just use a mop?
