It is a balance thing. Since trapping has been slowed down there populations continue to grow. When they group up they really can cause havoc. They also are opportunist that raid nest of turkeys, ducks etc. They also are hard on fawn populations. They go after easy pray. People don’t to worry, because they are survivors. Hunting is just a way to try and keep their populations in check and insure the success of other animals.
I know these things are a nuisence to farms, but is there a practical reason for hunting them? Meat probably isn’t very good, are their pelts valuable? Again, I know darn well these things will eat livestock and hurt farms so I am not nocking you hunting them, just curiouse if there was a more direct reward. I’m a suburbanite who has never hunted a day in his life.
Most of the time we have a decoy. Usually if they hang up it seems they are smarter dogs, of see something they don’t like. It usually isn’t the decoy.

You think they can move fast when on the hunt, overdrive kicks in when you shoot at them. Hard to hit if you miss the first shot.
Great video.

Decoys are the ONLY way to fly, awesome footage. It amazes me how many people don’t use them, but when you see the results they speak for themselves.

We set an e-call just below the critter at low volume. We bring them in with mouth calls, and then let the e-call take over at close range…
