this shit is borring. what ever happened to actually HOLDING your rifle when you shoot? this isnt a competition its mechanical objects doing what there made to do. in my opinion this is not shooting. shoulder your weapon and do the same thing and i will be impressed.

  2. aramhampson Says:

it is about physics, these shooting competitions require a lot. A friend who is a competition shooter is a physics profesor and the math involved in the load, the conditions wind etc as well as the spin of the earth for really long shot is all calculated in order to put a bullet in a 3 inch hole at 1000yrds. That is insane.

  3. iaingb Says:

    Fuckin’ self-righteous idiot.

  11. hd666 Says:

lazy shooting lol what a fool shoot the gun without the rest top of the rifle food chain my arse

  12. 123petes123 Says:

rofl, so let me get this straight, if i can afford the guns, afford the ammunition, and pay someone to check the ambience so i can adjust accordingly, i could be a beast at this sport? sounds like people with real talent and arent rich would excell amazingly at this….

  13. Alrgc2Air Says:

I just read this entire thread and I am LMAO.
I have shot Williamsport PA. Carolina, and Virgina both at Quantico and the farm.
I am not sure if there is a new record in in Hevey Gun 1000 Yard BR or not but I was on the line when a 3.151 10 shot group was laid down in williamsport.

BTW Bill is a great guy and I have sat next to him many a time on the rickity benches we used at Quantico back in the day.

I shot the JOHN DEERE green in 30 VA 1

  14. brawnthehulk Says:

I just set up a bench and did what he just did in the street in front of my house and I did way better. The police that showed up were even impressed. I got 2 cars a pickup, a bus and a Kenworth Semi. I was on target all day. Don’t hate

  15. skypony69 Says:

    pretty disrespectful

  16. sangmouass Says:

if i bought a pair of clamps from hardware store, i think i can do just as good..in my shooting too.lol, heck- i wont even be on the firing line cus i’ll have someone pull the trigger for me…

Lookup the Imperial Meeting at the national Centre Bisley.

We fire 7.62mm 155 grain rounds from specialised Target Rifls (look that up too) the sights consist of two concentric circles which we allign with the circular target. We fire from distances, 300,500,600,900 and 1000 yards. We have to take everything into account, but wind is the biggest problem. The only support we get is of a sling which takes some of the weight off the rifles.

  20. 33243391 Says:

The rifle is heavy. Its doing EXACTLY what its suppose to. Recoil shoves it back when fired then the shooter shoves it forward to the stop on the rest. Getting a rifle to “track” in the bags like that isnt easy. Its set up so well once the wind is to his liking he gets off a 5 shot string before it changes. If he was shooting 100yds all 5 of those rounds would probably be at worst in the low 4′s. It takes time money & a LOT of SKILL to do this. This is the VERY TOP of the rifle food chain

  21. kwoodman1 Says:

I’ve never seen a benchrest match before. Why is there no upward movement on the gun? It lays flat as a pancake when fired and only recoils back.

  22. lovshooting Says:

You shoot 1000 yards unsupported with open sights and are able to hit something. Show me the video. There is more to this sport than you suspect. There is a lot of work that goes into the rifle. There is a lot of work that goes into the ammo. You need to be aware of the ambient conditions at the bench and at the target. And much more. I guess you are not a fan of Drag Racing..?

  23. GordonALWAYS Says:

well, when he shoots the rifle standing up in an off hand position or at least in a prone non supported position will I be impressed. I can do this. I can read wind too by the way. The distance is known.

  24. lovshooting Says:

what is the caliber you are shooting?

  25. lovshooting Says:

I can only conclude you don’t know what you are talking about. This is bench rest comp. Look it up before you make such a comment

  26. l8gan80 Says:

    Benchrest is gay.

  27. soulecho1 Says:

@rdsii64 then he wouldn’t be benchrest shooting would he? It’s called that for a reason dude and it’s a particular style of shooting for maximum accuracy, some benchrest rifles are unable to even be fired in the way you describe due to their highly custom setup. Your comment is akin to saying ‘yeah, but he can’t fire one handed like i can wit my .357′, or ‘yeah, but he can’t hit clays like i do wit ma 12 gauge’.

  28. cs512tr Says:

    @TGLymantaiste lol no worries man.
anything on here is very 2D ;-)

  29. TGLymantaiste Says:

@Warscollar657 M14 baby, the finest batle rifle ever deployed.

  30. TGLymantaiste Says:

@cs512tr Sorry I must have bee in all serious mode :l

  31. TGLymantaiste Says:

@rdsii64 You are right though. While very cool Benchrest shooting does little to inmprove ones combat readiness. I love that National Match shooting in almost very form.

  32. rdsii64 Says:

    @zazzer120
I am well aware of the challanges of putting a bullet on target 1000 yards away. As challanging as bench rest shooting is, having to support the rifle will add to the difficulty level of any test of marksmenship skill. I was not implying that Bench rest shooting is easy, its much harder than it looks.

  33. cs512tr Says:

    @TGLymantaiste
yes true, but it was more of a dumb observation ;-P

  34. TGLymantaiste Says:

@rdsii64 i is not possible to shoot those kinds of groups without the bench

  35. TGLymantaiste Says:

@Duckyistrippin hey are probably shooting 6mm BR or 6mm PPC

  36. TGLymantaiste Says:

@cs512tr touching it makes it move and movement makes bigger groups.

  37. zazzer120 Says:

    rdsii64
stop playing video games! its very hard to hit something at 1000yards like this! Even harder prone with a bi pod good luck on your prone shooting with only a sling.

  38. Warscollar657 Says:

the 6.5 grendel and 6.5 creedmor would be SO AWESOME if they could figure out a fucking assault rifle platform that works! It bothers me weapons developement is so slow

  39. cs512tr Says:

    i agree.
it looks like he is afraid to touch the thing let alone hold it…

  40. rdsii64 Says:

While I am sure that what he does takes a considerable amount of skill. I would be much more impressed if he did prone with nothing but a shooting sling for support

  41. skypony69 Says:

I meant the guy above you. sorry

  42. Duckyistrippin Says:

never said it was a wild cat…

  43. skypony69 Says:

I agree there is no way to know what caliber it is, and there ain’t much evidence to even say its a wildcat, but then again is a 6mmbr or 6.5-.284 a wildcat, or a .243 or .22-250 it all depends on who draws the line. almost every round was a wild cat there budy.

  44. gandb21 Says:

    North Carolina?

  45. Duckyistrippin Says:

give it up poser, 6.5 is a crap round for assault rifles. plagued with issues at that.

68r would be closer… hell it could be a 22-250 theres no way to tell from this vid.

  46. pghHunter Says:

i can do that with my .177 cal pellet rifle shooting custom slugs at 6750 fps with a 16-32x60mm scope on it. jk lol. that looks like a nice rifle, is that a 9 twist barrel?

  47. xycoordinatex Says:

in a place of test shooting such as long range…its how you use tools for convenience…i dont see any of you that said “shoot of hands” could zero 300yrds off handed on a cold shot…ill give you my 2 rifles for free if you could find a trajectory equation of federal vp .22lr at speed of 1100fps of a 300 yrds drop…try all you want i got the answer right in my hands…it works for nasa…it works for me

  48. zeroy Says:

why dont u get an automatic trigger as well? noob, cant see the skills with the rifle on a railing!!

  49. PainTrane01 Says:

    smooth bolt dang

  50. fletch4747 Says:
